Modelling Brushes & Paint Application

Humbrol's painting tools split into brushes, across the Coloro, Evoco and Palpo ranges, and airbrush equipment for spraying thinned paint. Both application methods work with every Humbrol paint.

Brushes for detail and coverage

The brush range spans synthetic, sable and natural bristles, from fine-detail sizes for small work up to broader general-purpose brushes. Fine sizes cover figures and small detail; broader ones carry more paint across larger surfaces. Some types come as brush packs rather than individually, and paint and brush sets pair paint and brushes in one purchase. Match the hair and size to the job, then clean with whatever thins the paint: water while wet for Acrylic, Enamel Thinners for Enamel.

Airbrushing, with or without a compressor

The airbrush side pairs the All Purpose Airbrush with a propellant Power Pack, so spraying does not depend on owning a compressor. Thin paint at 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner before it goes through. The propellant is a 400ml aerosol, compatible with the Humbrol airbrush and standard connections. Sprayed coats follow the same rule as brushed ones: two thin coats, the first hard-dry before the second, using colour from the main Paint range. The full Humbrol shop carries the weathering and finishing stages beyond it.
