Adhesives & Fillers

Assembly comes before any paint. Poly Cement welds plastic parts into one piece and Balsa Cement handles wooden models. Model Filler deals with the gaps and hairline cracks the joints leave behind.

Adhesives that weld, not stick

Humbrol cement and glue works on the polystyrene and ABS that kits are made from. The joint faces dissolve and knit, curing as one piece of plastic. Formats run from general-purpose tubes to a liquid that wicks along seams and a precision nozzle for detail, with Balsa Cement covering soft woods and cork. A Poly Cement joint is touch-dry in 10 to 20 minutes, hard in an hour.

Filler for the joints that show

Model Filler is the second half of assembly: a fine grade putty for the seams and gaps a glued kit shows. Build deep gaps up in thin layers rather than one pass. Wipe wet excess away with a damp cloth, because it is permanent once set. Once fully dry it files and sands smooth, ready for a primer coat and paint. Enamel Thinners washes brushes after filler work.
